Godfried Wendelen
- Newton mentions Wendelen in III.4 when he lists various distances for earth-moon distance. One of the astronomers he cites is Wendelen (Newton writes as “Wendelin”. This is the spelling of his name in French sources.)
- Wendelen and Huygens, according to Newton, give earth-moon distance as \(60\tfrac{1}{3}\).
- Wikipedia article on Wendelen says that he was the first to discover that Kepler’s Rule applies to Jupiter’s moons. But then the page also states that Kepler himself knew that. They even the source for Kepler’s calculations.
