The central argument

Kepler’s Rule and Newton’s laws

  1. All Newton did in his Principia was to compute some astronomical quantities of some planets.
    1. I know that Principia is full of other subjects but I’m not interested in other subjects. I’m only interested in Newton’s use of supernatural causes to explain natural phenomena. More specifically, Newton’s explanation of planetary orbits (a natural phenomenon) with his supernatural cause he euphemistically calls “force” or “gravity”.
  2. Newton did all his computations of planetary orbits using Kepler’s Rule. This is proved by checking Newton’s computations of orbits in the Principia.

What is Newton’s achievement?

  1. Newton’s fame rests on his computation of planetary orbits by using a rule instead of astronomical tables. No one before Newton possessed a general rule to compute orbits.
  2. To Newton’s contemporaries this looked like magic.
  3. It’s a great mystery that someone like Huygens who read the Principia did not notice that Newton was not using this supernatural force that he claimed to have discovered in his orbit calculations.
  4. Unlike Newton the Occultist, Huygens was a rational and true scientist. Huygens was one of the first readers of Principia who could understand Newton’s mathematics. After reading the Principia Huygens recognized Newton’s force as a supernatural cause and accused Newton of reintroducing the old, pre-scientific and medieval scholastic notions of occult souls into physics.
  5. But how is it possible for Huygens to read the proposition III.4, the so-called the Moon test and not notice that Newton was not using any force terms in his computations? Newton is simply applying Kepler’s Rule to the orbit of the moon.
  6. Newton is assuming that the earth “attracts” the falling stone therefore it attracts the moon as well. There is no justification for this assumption. Kepler’s Rule has no terms for any Newtonian attraction or force of attraction.
  7. Gravity is not an attraction, gravity is acceleration, not force of acceleration.

Newton branded Kepler’s Rule as Newton’s laws

  1. The problem is that Newton and Newtonians assert that Newton used his supernatural force to compute orbits. The official physics propaganda is that Newton discovered that the engine under the hood of Kepler’s Rule was Newton’s supernatural force and Newton used this forceful version of Kepler’s Rule to compute orbits.
  2. But when we look at Newton’s Principia we see that Newton does not use any force terms while calculating planetary orbital data. If there are no force terms in the functional equations or the final expressions you use to compute orbits than orbits do not depend on Newton’s force.
  3. Newton verbally claims to use his force in his computations but his effective formulas do not contain force terms.
  4. This is sophistry on Newton’s part. Newton’s disciples today perpetuate this same sophistry by saying that force may not be explicitly represented but it is there implicitly. Yes, this is what I’m saying. If your force terms are not visible in the final formula, or they are only visible to you (implicitly visible only to you) then you are practicing deception to save the sacred authority of your master Newton. You want us to believe your argument by authority.

Newton’s force is a supernatural cause

  1. The problem with Newton’s explanation of orbits with his force is that what Newton calls “force” is a supernatural cause.
  2. I don’t accept explanation of natural phenomena with non-natural causes. In fact, not only me, but since the scientific revolution scientists in general do not admit supernatural causes into physics. In fact, today a scientist is defined by his attitude towards supernatural causes. Anyone who explains natural phenomena with supernatural causes is not considered a scientist. I don’t see why we should make an exception for Newton. Not only do we make an exception for Newton, but we’ve elevated the greatest occultist who ever lived to the status of the greatest scientist who ever lived.
  3. In truth, if Newton lived today, many scientists might dismiss him as a religious fundamentalist or an advocate of intelligent design.
  4. This fact makes Newtonism a cult. Newtonism started as the school of Newton but eventually turned into a cult with faithful disciples accepting Newton’s supernatural force as a physical cause. So much so that Newton’s disciples defined a unit to this supernatural cause as if it were a physical quantity. Not surprisingly this supernatural unit is called “Newton”. Such things can only happen in a cult.
  5. Newton’s force is a supernatural cause. Is there a doubt about this fact? No. Newton himself admits that this thing he calls “force” is a supernatural cause.
  6. Newton’s so-called force is supernatural because, by definition, it travels huge distances without time passing. But in this world, nothing happens without time passing. Anything that is defined to travel without time passing cannot exist in this world. Newton defined a fairy tale world, a wonderland, where timeless agents like Newton’s force exists.
  7. Newton’s system of the world is a fairy tale world, a wonderland where Alice’s wonders look trivially fantastical.
  8. How is Alice’s world is a wonderland but Newton’s world is not? In Newton’s world timeless travel is allowed, there is some wonderful thing called Newton’s force that can change its place without time passing. Consequently this wonderful thing is in two places at once. Alice would have been delighted to be in two places at once. How could Lewis Carroll deny her such a marvelous fantasy? With this fairy tale Newton stopped the advancement of science for 300 plus years.
  9. Newton was an incredible self-promoter and sold his fairy tale as the only true nature to the world. Newton took our mind hostage.
  10. Newton’s world is based on a supernatural force. There can be no scientific conclusions to be drawn from a supernatural assumption. Nature is not not-nature.
  11. We need to understand that in Newton’s time cosmology was defined by Descartes. In those days scientific rivalry and national pride played out on definitions of cosmology and astronomy. Britain could not let her traditional nemesis France to define cosmology and nature. Nature must be British. This meant that Newton, besides his own powerful propaganda skills, had the sophisticated British propaganda machine behind him. Through their history the British have been masters of defining “British standards” and imposing them to the world as the only true standards.
  12. A similar fight between Britain and France occurred regarding the definition of the prime longitude. [chatgpt]: In the late 17th century, France established the Paris Meridian as its reference line for navigation and mapping. For over a century, it was widely used in continental Europe. Meanwhile, Britain developed its own system centered on the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, which became increasingly popular due to the global influence of the British Empire and the widespread use of British nautical charts. In the 19th century British won and the prime meridian has been centered on the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London.
  13. Newton admits that his so-called force travels distances without time passing, also known as action-at-a-distance. This means that Newton’s force is everywhere at once, it permeates the entire universe as Newton’s Soul.
  14. Let’s not forget that Newton is a master of sophistry. We don’t have to take Newton’s sophistry seriously, we only look at his computation of orbits. Does Newton use a term for his supernatural cause called force in his calculations of orbits? No. This is clearly proved by looking at the relevant propositions in the Principia.
  15. Newton’s force is supernatural. To hide the fact that he was using non-natural causes to explain natural phenomena Newton said that he did not know how this force works but it works somehow. No. This is sophistry. Newton’s disciples still repeat this childish rhetoric. But in a way this discussion is academic. It makes no difference if Newton’s force is supernatural or not. Newton’s force never enters the effective formulas used to compute the orbits. Newtonians write the force terms and then cancel them. It is academic if force is supernatural or not.
  16. We may argue that Newton’s so-called “universal” force is supernatural and it is indeed supernatural but this is how Newton uses sophistry to obfuscate the real issue, namely, that Newton does not use a force term in his calculations of orbits. To prove this claim we will look at Newton’s orbit calculations in the Principia.

Advice to physicists

  1. Don’t explain natural phenomena with non-natural causes and do not condone anyone who explains natural phenomena with non-natural causes even if that person is the founder and high priest of your cult.

Newton is lying about his orbit computations

  1. If Newton’s force is occult and supernatural, it cannot be used as a cause to explain natural phenomena. If so, how come Newton can claim to have computed orbits by using this supernatural cause?
  2. Obviously, Newton is lying. We don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce that Newton could not have used a supernatural cause to compute planetary orbits. Newton is using rhetorical sophistry and equivocation and other scholastic tricks to sell his supernatural cause as a physical cause.
  3. Newton never uses his force to compute orbits. He cannot use it because we established that this force is supernatural and does not exist in this world. Only the human closest to Gods can explain natural phenomena with unnatural causes and get away with it.
  4. So this guy routinely explains natural phenomena with God and other supernatural causes and he is called greatest scientist ever lived. Newton’s authority has a blinding effect on his disciples—namely, physicists. Pope famously wrote: ‘Nature and Nature’s laws lay hid in night: God said, Let Newton be! and all was light.’ But perhaps this light was so dazzling that it blinded Newton’s disciples to everything beyond his vision.“
  1. Once a myth takes root-—through Halley’s ode to Newton, Pope’s verses about God letting Newton be, and countless other pieces of Newtonian propaganda and hagiography-—and becomes enshrined in schools, taught for generations as truth, it becomes exceedingly difficult to convince people that they’ve been believing in a fairy tale.

Newton is a certified occultist and supernaturalist

  1. For Newton, invoking supernatural causes to explain natural phenomena was the rule, not the exception. Newton’s another favorite supernatural cause is God. In the Principia Newton explains several natural phenomena as the actions of God.
  2. God and Newton’s occult force are both supernatural causes. There is no difference in saying that orbits are powered by God or by saying that orbits are powered by force. They are both supernatural causes Newton uses to explain natural phenomena.
  3. There is nothing to argue. Newton is not using and cannot use his supernatural cause to explain a natural phenomenon like orbital motion.
  4. I don’t see why we take Newton’s supernatural force seriously and discuss it as if it were a physical agent.
  5. Do we discuss Newton’s other supernatural causes. There are many of them in the Principia. (Examples)
  6. Do we discuss how God uses His hand to give a little jolt to the out of control orbits of the solar system to make them obey Newton’s laws again. Noticing that his so-called laws predict chaotic motions Newton invokes God and says that once in a while God kicks in and straightens the orbits. Are there physicists who take this seriously and discuss the strength of the force God must apply to save the solar system from chaos? Maybe there are I don’t know.
  7. Does it make sense to discuss God as if it were a physical cause? Not to me.
  8. So once we establish Newton’s force as a supernatural cause we dismiss it outright. Any propositions Newton uses the word “force” or its euphemistic synonyms to explain orbits is null and void.
  9. I really cannot understand how any rational scientist practicing in the 21st century can take Newton’s supernatural, occult and magical, in short, silly, force seriously.

Academic physics embraces mysticism more and more

  1. Especially with the advent of Quantum Mechanics physicists are getting closer and closer at accepting esotericism and the occult and the supernatural as legitimate fields of inquiry in physics. Not surprisingly, it was the founder of the school himself, Newton, who re-introduced esoteric elements into physics in the form of his supernatural and occult force. His disciples, as usual, are following Newton’s footsteps.
  2. It is a fact that most mainstream physicists will see nothing wrong in explaining natural phenomena with supernatural causes. Of course, with the caveat that they will first rationalize the supernatural causes with standard rhetorical sophistry techniques.

Astronomical tables vs. a general rule

  1. In fact this is the central problem facing Newton and astronomers before Newton.
  2. Newton wants to find a general rule to compute without using tables.
  3. Newton found this rule in Kepler’s Rule. And this was Newton’s dilemma as well: How to brand Kepler’s Rule as Newton’s laws?
